Damage control – Salahis reach out to ‘friends’ via Facebook

Are the Salahis trying to stage a comeback?

While Michaele and Tareq Salahi’s names have been in the news, they have kept a low public profile since their “Today” interview. But that’s set to end next weekend, when the couple will appear at the Vegas nightclub Pure.

Perhaps because of that appearance, Michaele Salahi was spotted Friday getting hair extensions in Georgetown, according to PoliticsDaily.com. And, over the weekend, the couple’s joint Facebook account was a hotbed of activity.

The page for Tareq-Michaele Salahi accepted what looked to be thousands of “friend” requests and directed those new friends toward Michaele Salahi’s Facebook fan page.

“Welcome new & old friends, and thanks for all the warm wishes and blessings. You and your friends & family can join me on my fan Page that will be best for the most up to date activities and any statements that will be coming in the future,” the couple’s status message read.

All the while, the Salahis may be in for some major trouble: Politico reported Saturday that Peggy Ioakim, who styled Michaele Salahi’s hair before the state dinner, and celebrity stylist Erwin Gomez, a salon co-owner, will testify before a federal grand jury Tuesday.

Though the subpoena doesn’t mention the Salahis, it says a grand jury is investigating the violation of a statute that prohibits lying to a government official.

And if you’re not a federal grand jury, Michaele Salahi’s Facebook fan page says to e-mail [email protected] to book the Salahis at your next event.
