Secret Service agent’s gun, badge stolen outside headquarters

The beleaguered Secret Service suffered another embarrassment Monday when an agent’s personal car was broken into and thieves stole his official equipment, including his gun and badge, the agency confirmed on Tuesday.

The incident, which happened around 4 p.m. Monday near the agency’s headquarters in Washington’s Penn Quarter, is the latest in a string that includes a fence jumper who made it all the way into the White House residence before being apprehended and agents on detail in South America who were caught hiring prostitutes.

The unnamed agent’s radio, flash drive and handcuffs were also stolen.

The USB stick’s contents are reportedly encrypted and can only be accessed with a password.
