Palin links son’s domestic violence arrest to Obama’s veterans policies

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin suggested Wednesday that her son’s recent arrest was tied to the Obama adminstration’s poor treatment of veterans.

On Monday night, 26-year-old Track Palin was accused of assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence and possession of a weapon in Wasilla, Alaska. The story broke on Tuesday, soon after Palin hit the trail to endorse GOP front-runner Donald Trump. Palin missed one campaign appearance.

Once back on the campaign trail Wednesday afternoon, Palin spoke to the importance of supporting veterans and opened up about her son’s experiences coming back from combat.

“With my son who served in a combat brigade fighting for you all in the war zone. But my son like so many others they came back different, they come back hardened,” Palin said. “That starts from the top.”

“It’s a shame that our military personnel wonder if they are respected anymore,” she continued, explaining that if veterans felt respected they may have an easier time coming home from the battlefield.

“We need a commander in chief who will respect them and honor them,” Palin added. Trump followed her on stage.
