Sanders camp: Clinton made ‘deal with the devil’

The campaign manager for Sen. Bernie Sanders bashed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Thursday for her taking of campaign contributions from billionaires, saying she made a “deal with the devil” by doing so.

Appearing on CNN, campaign manager Jeff Weaver reiterated the message Sanders brought to Philadelphia Wednesday night, where the Vermont senator said Clinton was “not qualified” for the presidency. He added that Clinton knew what she was getting into by tapping billionaires for campaign contributions.

“I think if you look at her record and you look at her campaign, her campaign is funded by millions and millions of dollars from wall street and other special interests,” Weaver told CNN’s Carol Costello. “She really made a deal with the devil, and we know the devil wants his money in the end. So that’s the kind of campaign he’s running.”

“On issue after issue she’s been on the wrong side, and it’s certainly fair to point that out,” Weaver added.

In his speech at Temple University, Sanders listed a myriad of reasons why Clinton is unqualified to occupy the White House, citing her super PAC recieving over $15 million from Wall Street groups, her vote for the Iraq War, and her support of various trade deals over the last 25 years.

He was responding to Clinton after she questioned his readiness to serve as president after a questionable performance before the editorial board of the New York Daily News.

The comments come as the race between Clinton and Sanders enters an increasingly tense phase following Sanders’ victory in Wisconsin, and ahead of primaries in New York and Pennsylvania.
