What is sure to be the newest must-have for any basketball fan? The just-released official White House basketball – but good luck finding one.
Just over a week old, basketballs feature white panels stamped with the official presidential seal. Problem is, they are only available in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building’s Navy Mess gift shop, a gift shop you can only gain access to if you work for the administration or have an appointment in the building with one who does.
Some of those lucky enough to pick up the souvenir were the University of North Carolina’s championship men’s basketball team. Each of the players purchased the $55 balls on-site before their ceremony last week with the president.
We’re told that they sold out soon thereafter. But not before White House press secretary Robert Gibbs scooped up a couple balls for his kids.
