Trump predicts Iowa victory

CEDAR RAPID, Iowa — Donald Trump told voters that he had no interest in tamping down expectations during his last event before the Iowa caucus, saying he planned to win the whole thing.

“Wouldn’t it be better off if you just said you want to do well in Iowa? No I want to win,” Trump told supporters in Cedar Rapids on Monday afternoon. “I could say I want to do well, that’s the safe way, I don’t want to do the safe way.”

To further excite supporters, Trump brought both his wife Melania and his daughter Ivanka to the stage. Melania told the crowd that her husband was “the man” and he would “make America great.”

“This is a little like when I graduated college or high school. Its over for Iowa voters,” Trump said, adding that he’d be back in the general, where he’d “beat Hillary so bad.”

Going into the Monday night Iowa caucus Trump leads the GOP field narrowly, according to most polls, with Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio right behind him.

The front-runner also claimed that beyond Iowa his campaign “will win states that are not in the Republican view,” citing rising polls in Michigan, Ohio and Florida.

“We’re going to take America back. We’re going to make our country great again. We’re going to be proud to say we’re from the U.S.,” Trump said.
