‘The Office’ actress hearts Barbara Boxer

Actress Angela Kinsey was a little nervous about her first visit to Capitol Hill, and not just for the usual reasons. Yes, the “The Office” star was concerned about getting her facts and figures straight while lobbying for proper seafood labeling, but she also had to face her Congressional crush, Sen. Barbara Boxer.

“I really have a little bit of a crush [on], and can’t wait to meet, Barbara Boxer,” Kinsey said after an Oceana briefing Monday on the Hill. She added that Boxer would be her first choice of politicians to run Dunder Mifflin. “I’m kind of like, lady power!” she said. “I’d like to see a chick run ‘The Office.’”

Kinsey will be making the rounds this week, also dropping by House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer’s office to advocate for three Senate bills to strengthen consumer protections regarding seafood and prevent illegal fishing.

“I’m really excited and intimidated,” she said about meeting with members of Congress. Kinsey planned to spend some time on her iPad in preparation for the meetings. “Don’t think I won’t be googling tonight,” she said.

Kinsey has no political aspirations herself but has previously dabbled in advocacy for stray cats. She remains undecided for her presidential vote come November.

“I feel I don’t know enough about Mitt, good old Mitt, yet,” she said. “I voted for Obama last time around, and I really just want a really good person in there who hears the people. So I’m going to see what they have to say.”
