Presidential debate neckwear, an underappreciated field of study, is finally getting some attention from scholars. Lynn University, which will host the third presidential debate on Oct. 22, has conducted an analysis of ties worn by presidential contenders on the debate stage. Their findings, by the numbers:
13-to-5: Ratio of red ties to blue ties worn by candidates for presidential debates since 2000.
1: Number of green ties worn in modern debate history. Bob Dole wore a green tie during his second debate with Bill Clinton in 1996.
0: Number of bow ties worn on a televised presidential debate.
