Jay-Z, Kanye being used to raise cash for Congressmen

Tickets to the Nov. 3 Jay-Z and Kanye West concert at the Verizon Center already cost a pretty penny, but when politicians get involved, there’s an even bigger price hike.

Two Democratic Congressmen are using the upcoming concert for fundraising purposes, according to the Sunlight Foundation’s Party Time blog. Those interested in attending the concert and donating to the re-election campaign of Rep. Ed Towns, D-N.Y., can pay $2,500 for two concert tickets and access to the VIP reception. One concert ticket and access to the VIP reception costs $1,500. Rep. André Carson, D-Ind., is hosting a similarly priced fundraiser, charging $1,500 per individual and $2,500 per couple, according to the Sunlight Foundation.

It’s not unusual for big ticket shows to be used by pols to solitic funds. Both the Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift concerts, which took place earlier this year, raised money for a number of members of Congress.
