Scott Brown reportedly set to endorse Donald Trump

Donald Trump, fresh off a surprising second place finish in the Iowa caucuses, will reportedly be endorsed by Scott Brown Tuesday.

The former Massachusetts senator, who unsuccessfully ran for the Senate in New Hampshire two years ago, will join the Republican presidential hopeful in the Granite State at a campaign rally Tuesday night, according to the Washington Post. Brown’s endorsement would be the first of a current or former senator for Trump.

“Scott Brown will be joining Mr. Trump at an event tonight in New Hampshire,” Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s campaign manager, told the Washington Examiner in an email.

On Monday, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz won the Iowa caucuses, but heading into Tuesday night’s first-in-the-nation primary, Trump is ahead by several points in numerous polls. Trump is currently first in the Examiner‘s presidential power rankings, while Cruz is second.

Brown, who has hosted 10 of the GOP presidential candidates at a numerous events at his home in New Hampshire, told Boston Herald Radio’s “Morning Meeting” program that he was getting ready to endorse someone, and that he has told the candidate his decision.

“I’m going to help any way I can,” Brown said of his upcoming endorsement on the radio program. “You know me — when I do stuff I go all in. And I do it after great thought. There’s always risk because I know every single one of them and I like every single one of them and I believe every single one of them would make a better president than Hillary Clinton or the socialist Bernie Sanders. And that being said, either way we go, we’re going to get a good, solid candidate.”
