In the event of a shutdown, many area eateries and bars will be offering specials and discounts for furloughed workers. Zentan is offering 30 percent of bars tabs Friday and Saturday with government credentials. Sunday Sushi diners will also get 30 percent off with credentials. Zaytinya, Jaleo, Oyamel, Masa 14, Agora, AGAINN, Hank’s Oyster Bar, 701, Legal Sea Foods and Redwood will all be offering discounts on both food and drink for everyone, not just those who might be deemed nonessential. Z-Burger will give federal workers free burgers starting April 11. Union Pub will offer penny beers all next week in the event of a shutdown.
And specials aren’t just reserved for food and drink. Both the Phillips Collection and the Corcoran Gallery of Art will be offering discounted admission and, in some cases, even refreshments.
