Trump wins Arkansas

Donald Trump continued his march through the Deep South by edging out Sen. Ted Cruz in Arkansas, making it his sixth win of the night.

The early exit polls showed Trump doing well with somewhat conservative voters and moderate Republicans. Cruz challenged him with the very conservative voters, but it wasn’t enough.

In addition to Arkansas, Trump has won Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Virginia, adding them to his early state victories in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada.

Arkansas is the state where Bill and Hillary Clinton began their political careers, but it has moved further into the Republican column since the 1990s.

Clinton carried the state’s Democratic primary easily.
