Jeb Bush ‘more than likely’ to run for president, says son George P. Bush

Jeb Bush is more likely than not to run for president in 2016, his son George P. Bush said Sunday.

The younger Bush, in an interview aired by ABC News Sunday, said that Jeb was “still assessing” the decision of whether to run for the Republican nomination, “but it’s more than likely that he’s giving this a serious thought … and moving forward” toward running.

In the case that his father does run, Bush said, “the family will be behind him 100 percent.”

That family includes former president George H.W. Bush, the 41st president and the father of Jeb and grandfather of George, and George W. Bush, the 43rd president and brother of Jeb and uncle of George.

The former governor of Florida, Jeb Bush is thought to be a strong candidate for support from the establishment wing of the GOP if he does run. So far he has remained quiet about his intentions.

The 38 year-old George P. Bush is considered a potential future star in national politics as well. He is running to be Texas land commissioner, a post with responsibility for the state’s massive land and mineral resources.

For his own part, he denied any intentions for a future presidential run when asked by ABC’s Jonathan Karl. “I’ve thought about service, but I never really understood how it would manifest itself,” Bush said.
