O’Malley: Clinton ‘flip-flops in the wind’ on guns

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley on Sunday kept up his attack on front-runner Hillary Clinton, by saying she has flipped on guns in the past when it’s convenient for her to flip.

“Hillary Clinton flip-flops in the wind on this issue,” he said on CNN Sunday morning.

O’Malley got under Clinton’s skin during the Saturday night debate, when he blamed both Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., from enacting gun control measures from Washington.

The former Maryland governor said Saturday that the “flip-flopping political approach of Washington that both of my two colleagues on the stage” has stopped gun control. That prompted Sanders to tell O’Malley, who’s in a distant third place, to “calm down,” and also prompted Clinton to say, “Yeah, let’s tell the truth, Martin.”

But O’Malley insisted Sunday that he was right.

“The fact of the matter is, Hillary Clinton has flip-flopped,” he said on CNN. “The truth is that Hillary Clinton was, in 2000 when she ran for office, in favor of licensing and a federal role and national registry on hand gun registration, and then she flip-flopped, and she was opposed to it in 2008.”
