Candidates keeping up with the Kardashians?

One Romney campaign event got a little pop-culture infusion on Thursday when former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty went off on a tangent about Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband, Kris Humphries, who is currently wrapping up his famously short marriage to the reality star. “You might think, Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty are some of the best-known Minnesotans … That’s not true at all. The best-known Minnesotan is now the soon-to-be former Mr. Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries,” said Pawlenty as he stumped for Mitt Romney at a campaign event in Charleston, S.C. “And a lot of people feel sorry for him … I don’t want you to feel too sorry for him, I mean his marriage lasted longer than my presidential campaign,” he added. Of course, this isn’t the first time the Kardashians have come up at the Romney camp. During a speech at the beginning of January, Romney blasted President Obama‘s campaign promises by bringing up the Kardashian clan, saying, “The gap between his promises and his performance is the largest I’ve seen, well, since the Kardashian wedding and the promise of ’til death do we part.'”
