A fire broke out Thursday at a building near the world’s tallest skyscraper in Dubai. A massive New Year’s fireworks display took place as planned.
The fire, which ran up at leat 20 stories of the building near the Burj Khalifa, began about two hours before midnight, local time. Tens of thousands had gathered in the area in anticipation of the display. One person has suffered what officiald are calling a “mid-level” injury while 14 have incurred minor inuries related to the smoke and indivudals rushing from the building.
