Kasich won’t participate in Rubio’s anti-Trump strategy

Ohio Gov. John Kasich won’t be telling supporters in Florida to back Marco Rubio to undercut Donald Trump, saying voters aren’t robots.

“First of all, my voters aren’t like robots where I can say ‘Go do something,'” Kasich told NBC’s Chuck Todd Sunday on “Meet the Press.”

Todd asked him if he would reciprocate with Sen. Rubio’s recent call for voters in Ohio to support a Kasich win to undercut front-runner Trump from winning the primary on Tuesday.

“How do you run for office and tell people to vote for somebody else?” Kasich asked.

“Bottom line is: I don’t go tell people what they should do, particularly if they are for me,” the GOP candidate said. “That doesn’t make sense to me.”

Nevertheless, he said he tried to call Marco on Saturday to “wish him good luck” in Florida.

“I’d like to win Florida,” Kasich said. But, he added, it’s likely not “in the cards.”
