Trump: More endorsements coming, but unsure of their value

Donald Trump said Saturday that he expects more endorsements to come his way, though he’s unsure if they matter.

“I think you can,” Trump said, told the hosts of “Fox & Friends,” Saturday when asked if more big names would follow his Friday endorsement by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. “But frankly sometimes they want to have dinner, or let’s get together for two hours, and let’s go to a movie together, and it’s too much work. And I’m not sure what endorsements mean. I never really understood it.”

Trump probably has a point. The real estate developer and reality TV star became a heavy favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination without any congressional or gubernatorial endorsements until the past week.

Trump, however, said Christie’s backing mattered.

“He’s the one endorsement, to me, that really meant a lot,” Trump said.

“I think the Sarah Palin endorsement meant a lot,” Trump added. Trump also noted the support he got from evangelical leader Jerry Falwell, Jr.

“I think endorsements really do help,” he said. “There’s no doubt about it.”
