Howard Dean endorses Clinton over Sanders

Despite having a lot in common with Bernie Sanders, Howard Dean has pledged his support to Hillary Clinton.

Dean, a former governor of Vermont, is from Sanders’ home state. In 2004, Dean was the progressive insurgent candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination like Sanders is today.

But Dean, who is also a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, says Clinton has the experience that makes her most qualified to be president. He also cited the front-runner’s policy proposals on criminal justice reform, universal automatic voter registration and childcare as reasons she is the most qualified.

Dean also praised Clinton’s experience fighting hard political battles, saying the former secretary of state always rises above “factually incorrect” and “dishonest” criticisms. He said that nine investigations against Clinton have not “produced a shred of credibility for allegations of wrongdoing” and instead have unnecessarily cost taxpayers.

“These attacks are part of the process,” Dean said. “If a candidate can’t take a hit from the New York Times or Fox News, how are they going to stand up to Putin when he demands Alaska back?”

Dean has endorsed Clinton as support for Sanders has continued to rise in Iowa and New Hampshire. There has also been increased speculation that Vice President Joe Biden will get into the race.
