No sign of Jessica
Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo made his return from injury Sunday night against the Redskins, so no use bringing along his anti-luck charm: his girlfriend, Jessica Simpson, who was nowhere to be seen as the ‘Boys checked into the Westin Ballston. Romo instead spent some time with legendary color commentator John Madden, who interviewed him at the hotel (a bit of a step down from Jess, we’d say). The team dined at PF Chang’s next door.
Madden and broadcast partner Al Michaels stayed at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown.
Speaking of hotels, legendary rock band AC/DC stayed at the rockstar-friendly Mandarin Oriental Hotel while in town for its show at the Verizon Center. No televisions were reported thrown out of the windows. (They’re too old for that. Right?)
And speaking of athletes, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will name Ken Griffey, Jr., to a public diplomacy role today in Foggy Bottom. Griffey will join fellow athletes Cal Ripken, Jr., and Michelle Kwan in the role, both of whom have made trips abroad under State Department auspices.
Finally, on Monday, President Bush welcomed the victorious U.S. Ryder Cup team to the Oval Office for a photo op.
