CARLY for America, a super PAC supporting Carly Fiorina’s presidential campaign, unveiled a new feature-length video detailing the candidate’s life story. The video, titled “Citizen Carly,” aims to push back against criticism that cast doubt on her claim of rising from “secretary to CEO.”
“This is the true and full story,” said Stephen DeMaura, executive director of the PAC, in a statement touting the super PAC’s film last month. “Not through the lens of liberal reporters, but through the lens of the people who have known her for decades.”
The video has already received praise from right-leaning columnists, including Legal Insurrection’s Amy Miller who called it a “big F- You” to those who viewed her rise from secretary to CEO skeptically.
“Overall, “Citizen Carly” is a confident production that invites voters and the media alike to take a second, third, or 15th look at Carly Fiorina’s candidacy — which is exactly what Carly’s backers need to happen at this stage in the cycle,” Miller wrote. “It answers questions voters have about Carly…but also offers a ton of quotes, testimonials, and other tidbits that actually invite fact checkers to dig further. It also serves as a strong rebuttal against a narrative that the media has become particularly attached to.”
Fiorina, who ranks second in the Washington Examiner‘s most recent power rankings, has continued her upward climb in the polls. In a hypothetical head-to-head matchup with Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in Iowa, Fiorina leads by 14 percentage points, according to NBC News data. Fiorina has come under fire from the right and left, and the new feature-length campaign ad seeks to aggressively fight back against Fiorina’s detractors.
