He plays an elegant James Bond, but actor Daniel Craig doesn’t mince words when discussing pop culture or politics – at least he’s proven as much with his comments in a new feature in Men’s Journal (which has yet to be put up on the magazine’s website), where he said “Politicians are sh–heads. That’s how they become politicians, even the good ones … We’re actors, we’re artists, we’re very nice to each other. They’ll turn around and stab you in the f–king back.” Craig had harsh words for celebrities mixing with politicians, too, comparing those relationships to “Mephisto” – a 1981 film based on Faust’s “Mephistopheles” about an actor who aligns himself with the Nazi party to further his career. One actor who dabbles in politics that Craig does respect is George Clooney, who he praised for his ability to straddle the fine line between art and politics. “George has his finger on the political pulse, and he’s one of those guys who can get up and talk, and I don’t have that,” he said. “If someone shoves a microphone in your face and says, ‘Explain yourself,’ you have to have a 100% understanding of why you’re doing it, and unless you’re 100 percent, don’t f–king do it, leave it alone, let your work speak for itself.”
