Jeb Bush now unsure of Iraq War answer

Likely 2016 Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush wants a do-over on his answer about whether he would have ordered the invasion of Iraq.

After telling Fox News’ Megyn Kelly that he would have, the former Florida governor told radio host Sean Hannity Tuesday that he misheard the question.

“I don’t know what that decision would have been,” Bush said. He suggested that he missed that Kelly was asking if he still would have gone to war “knowing what we know now” about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

“I interpreted the question wrong, I guess,” Bush said to Hannity. “Clearly there were mistakes made as they related to faulty intelligence.”

George W. Bush has described the Iraqi WMD intelligence as “false.”

Jeb Bush’s initial answer was widely panned, as it complicated his efforts to differentiate from his brother and appeared to commit him to repeating a war that most Americans now believe was a mistake.
