Report: Bobby Jindal super PAC to run ad in Iowa during primetime debate

A super PAC supporting Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is out with a new ad touting the governor’s focus on Iowa.

The Believe Again super PAC plans to run the ad on Fox News in Iowa during Thursday’s primetime debate, which will not include Jindal, The New York Times reported.

Jindal failed to finish among the top 10 candidates in nationwide polling selected by Fox News, meaning he will appear in a separate debate held at 5 p.m. Six other major GOP presidential candidates whose poll numbers did not surpass the threshold imposed by Fox News will join Jindal onstage.

The ad dismisses the main stage’s importance and said the the Louisiana governor is focused on a state that matters — Iowa.

“The debate in Cleveland is all about a celebrity, but one candidate is moving up where it counts — in Iowa, Bobby Jindal,” the ad’s narrator said.

The ad cuts to Jindal speaking at various events across the Hawkeye State and claims that he has done more town hall events than any other candidate. It shows a woman saying Jindal will become an Iowan if he hangs around the state much longer.

“If you elect somebody to D.C. that wants to be popular with the mainstream media, we are done as a country,” Jindal is shown saying.

In recent days, Jindal has sought increased exposure to offset his absence on the main stage. He has grabbed headlines for a proposal to hold sanctuary cities’ local officials criminally liable for policies that prevent the enforcement of federal immigration law and did push-ups on camera for BuzzFeed’s pleasure.
