Perhaps the spirit wasn’t with members of Congress as they voted against the Senate’s version of President Obama‘s jobs bill, but there was a lot of sudsy camaraderie in Orlando Tuesday night when the president joined a few unemployed construction workers at the Harp and Celt Restaurant & Irish Pub on Magnolia Avenue ± toasting to “more jobs” with a pint of Guinness around 7 p.m.
The bar-hop wasn’t entirely spontaneous, of course, as Obama was in town for two campaign fundraisers already, and the stop was noted in a tweet from White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer, who wrote, “POTUS stopped at a bar in Orlando to have a beer with some unemployed workers — while the GOP was voting to block the American Jobs Act.” The photo-op was quick though. Obamam Foodorama noted that Obama’s senior advisor Valerie Jarrett was sitting outside the bar, talking on her cell phone while campaign manager Jim Messina waited for the president by one of his vehicles down the block — and Obama was done downing suds and off to his next fundraiser at 7:30 p.m.
