How green are Americans?
Americans ranked dead last — again — when it comes to practicing sustainable behavior, the National Geographic Society and GlobeScan found in a survey of 17,000 consumers in 17 countries. No surprise there. The United States has ranked last in eco-friendly behavior when it comes to housing, transportation, food and consumer goods every year since the survey was first done in 2008. However, just 21 percent of Americans reported feeling guilty about the impact they have on the environment.
Will Attorney General Eric Holder face criminal prosecution on contempt of Congress charges?
Holder’s own Justice Department said it won’t pursue criminal charges against the attorney general, the first Cabinet officer ever declared in contempt of Congress. But Holder still faces civil charges after the House voted to hold him in contempt because he refused to turn over documents related to the Fast and Furious gun-tracking operation. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said the House would soon file a civil suit.
Is Whole Foods coming to Prince George’s County?
The County Council approved a rezoning plan clearing the way for a development in Riverdale Park that would be anchored by what would be the county’s first Whole Foods grocery store. County Executive Rushern Baker is supportive of the development. But some residents have promised to challenge the County Council’s decision in court, arguing the project would add traffic to already congested roads, including Route 1.
