Montel Williams: Not associated with the Salahis

It was reported earlier in the week that Tareq and Michale Salahi were going to re-open their winery — with a little help from Montel Williams. Williams people are now saying that that was never the plan.

“It has come to our attention that a group apparently associated with Tareq and Michaele Salahi have announced that Mr. Williams will be attending an event at their Oasis Winery in Virginia and that Montel Williams’ MS Foundation is also a supporter — neither is true.  The use of Mr. Williams’ name without his permission is unacceptable, and Mr. Williams’ attorneys intend to pursue all available legal remedies in this matter,” Jonathan Franks, PR rep for Williams, told Yeas & Nays in a statement.

Franks later told Yeas & Nays over the phone that Williams and his people appreciated the reporting of story because they might have never found out otherwise.

Meanwhile, the Salahis are claiming they did not know this was happening, and that it was a third-party who invited Williams. Franks isn’t so sure.

“I am highly skeptical of the Salahi’s statement to TMZ given what we know of them from the media and the interest multiple governmental agencies, including law enforcement, have expressed in this matter.”
