Stephen Baldwin wants to set the record straight.
The conservative Christian actor and radio host, known mostly for being one of the Baldwin brothers, was not behind the creation of the Web site RestoreStephenBaldwin.org.
That was all grass roots, baby.
Baldwin took to the airwaves Saturday night with his co-host Kevin McCullough to talk about the Web site, which has gotten a ton of buzz online during the past few days.
Here’s the back story: Months ago Christian fans of Baldwin set up RestoreStephen
Baldwin.org because they believed Baldwin was being persecuted for being a Christian in Hollywood. The Web site’s creators compared Baldwin to the biblical figure Job and asked fans to donate to help restore him financially from a previous bankruptcy.
Over the weekend, various news sources assumed that Baldwin had created the Web site himself. Both Baldwin and his co-host McCullough said that’s simply not true.
“This is not from Stephen, this is from Kevin: You ninnies, you nitwits, go print retractions, you owe it for the purpose of true journalism, you owe it to Stephen, you owe it to the people who are listening to this show to not be making this stuff up as you go along,” McCullough said. “As a journalist, I’m offended at your lack of due diligence.”
Baldwin thanked the creators of the Web site and applauded his radio co-host.
“You’re gnarly, dude,” he said. “You’re gnarly for Jesus.”
