Name-Dropping
Comedic actor Ted Danson isn’t one of those Hollywood-types people associate with darkness. But that’s exactly what he got Wednesday morning.
Danson was testifying to the House Committee on Natural Resources on the dangers of offshore drilling when the room suddenly went black.
“This is a sign of things to come,” said the environmentally aware actor, before the light finally flickered back on.
Danson was joined by Philippe Cousteau (grandson of the late Jacques
Cousteau) in calling on Congress to reinstate the moratorium on offshore
drilling.
Danson argued passionately with Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., who told the “Curb
Your Enthusiasm” star that the lifting of the moratorium was “a ship that
had already set sail.”
”I would hope that you would sail that ship back in to port,” retorted Danson.
Yeas & Nays caught up with a much more jovial Danson before the hearing, who told us about his multiple dates with some of Washington most powerful figures. “I am going to see [Sen.] Barbara Boxer today and I had dinner last night with my friends, the Clintons … whom I hadn’t seen since the campaign ended.”
We had to ask the activist what role he would like to play in the White House. He thought for a moment being saying, “I don’t know, a gardener I guess. Wait no, Joe Biden. I really like him.”
He had nothing but kind words for his politically dissenting chum Kelsey Grammer, who was in town for the reopening of Ford’s Theatre. “My love for Kelsey Grammer is so deep,” said Danson. “I would never purposefully step on his toes. Yes, we disagree on many things but kudos to him.”
