Occidental to celebrate ‘Seersucker Thursday’

On Thursday, temperatures in the District are expected to climb to a high of 99 degrees, marking the first truly sweltering day of summer. To combat the heat, Occidental Grill & Seafood, the restaurant next to the Willard Hotel, is giving away a free cocktail or dessert (with purchase of an appetizer), with a catch — you must be wearing seersucker. The light striped fabric is a summer Washington tradition. We’re told that former Sen. Trent Lott, who created Seersucker Day on Capitol Hill during his senate tenure, has been informed.
