“It’s not official until the last ballot is counted.”
That’s the attitude Michael Hensley, a Rubio-pledged delegate from Tennessee — at 20 years old, among the youngest voting at the convention — is taking into Cleveland next month.
The efforts to stop Donald Trump’s nomination have so far been comically futile, but multiple interviews by Red Alert Politics have confirmed that efforts to stop Trump at the convention are gaining momentum. The delegates running the coup attempt have “decades of seasoned organizational experience for the major players,” according to one delegate who wished to remain anonymous.
And, while the Washington Post and others have reported there are only “dozens of GOP delegates,” sources within the anti-Trump group claim this number has grown to “hundreds.”
So, why now?
Hensley, who has been vocally anti-Trump for some time, claims that even previously pro-Trump voters have asked him to defeat Trump in Cleveland.
“I have spoken with many voters who once supported the front-runner that are now looking for an alternative to vote for in November because of his recent comments,” Hensley said. “Who we nominate in Cleveland will impact our party’s success in future elections for the rest of my lifetime.”
