One-third of British vegetarians consume meat whenever they drink too much, according to a new study.
According to the survey, 37 percent admitted to eating meat when they drank too much. Of those, 34 percent said they ate meat “every time” they were “drunk on a night out.” An additional 26 percent said that happened to them “fairly often,” 18 percent said it happened “occasionally,” and 22 percent said it happened “rarely.”
The survey, which included 1,789 respondents, was conducted by U.K.-based discount Website VoucherCodesPro.
Of those who said they engaged in such behavior, 34 percent said they ate beef burgers. A similar number reported eating pork, with 14 percent stating that they ate pork sausages and 27 percent admitting they ate bacon. An additional 19 percent said they ate chicken, while 39 percent reported eating kebab meat, which could include a variety of animals.
Kebab shops are more prevalent in the U.K. than in the U.S., where they are much less common.
The vegetarians reported that they spent an average of $7 to $8 on meat every time they experienced such an incident. They also concealed their misdeeds; 69 percent said they had never told anyone what they had done, while 31 percent said that they did.
