First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative has spread to her own backyard, and folks are really taking the message to heart. As part of the White House’s activities to welcome the British prime minister and his wife to the U.S., the first lady is hosting an Olympics-themed event with kids from local schools. Students will compete in athletic events alongside Olympians, including Dominique Dawes, on Tuesday.
And after its students participate in these healthy activities, MacFarland Middle School is hosting a fundraising night at … Wendy’s. On Wednesday, 15 percent of all sales of burgers, fries, Frostys, etc. at the fast food joint on Georgia Avenue in Northwest D.C. will go toward curriculum materials at MacFarland.
