Smithsonian may salute Whitney Houston

Dionne Warwick, singer and cousin to the late Whitney Houston, got personal with the audience at the Strathmore Spring Gala Saturday night, revealing that the Smithsonian has been in touch with her about a project relating to Houston. Warwick did not mention which museum would be involved but said she’d received a call from the institute.

The Smithsonian had not replied to an inquiry by press time.

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley also addressed the crowd during dinner. Speaking to the members of the Maryland General Assembly, who might be reconvening in a special session to address a looming budget crisis, O’Malley joked that it was great to see them again. “Gosh, I’ve missed you,” he said to laughs. “And I think we need to get together real soon.”
