Last week, news reports out of Russia said the Washington Capitals’ very own Alexander Ovechkin was teaming up with rapper Eminem to produce a hip-hop track.
Reports cited Ovechkin, who is Russian, telling the Russian publication Life Sports about the forthcoming song.
“It would be such an honor for me, because I am a big fan of Eminem,” Ovechkin is quoted as saying. “I always have his CDs in my car, and I would be very glad to meet him. By the way, Eminem’s ‘8 Mile’ film is just great.”
Yeas & Nays consulted Capitals spokesman Nate Ewell, who dashed our dreams.
“Ovi is a fan, but there are no plans in the works for them to work together,” Ewell said. He added that he believes the misunderstanding came from an exaggerated or badly translated interview with Ovechkin.
