BuzzFeed grabs ThinkProgress editor

BuzzFeed’s rapid growth continues apace, the website announcing Wednesday that it has poached a ThinkProgress senior editor.

Annie-Rose Strasser will soon leave her editing position at the progressive activist think tank to start work as the new deputy managing editor for BuzzFeed News.

Her primary responsibilities will involve her overseeing the group’s news desk’s logistics and working with “editors on budget and editorial staffing for reporting trips,” a BuzzFeed spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.

The move was announced early Wednesday morning on Twitter.

“Guys I am [so] excited to announce that [Annie-Rose Strasser] is joining Buzz Feed News as Deputy Managing Editor!” the news groups’ executive editor, Shani O. Hilton, said in a tweet.

The outgoing senior editor confirmed the move in a tweet: “It’s true!”

Strasser worked previously as a media specialist the Center for Community Change and as a press assistant for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla.

As an employee of ThinkProgress, Strasser authored dozens of articles, including “How Movies Left Out Women And People Of Color In 2013,” “Marco Rubio Goes Full-On Climate Denier,” “Why School Snow Days Are Terrible For Parents And Students Alike,” and “Bitcoin: By The Privileged, For The Privileged.”
