CNBC’s Larry Kudlow ‘thinking’ of challenging Chuck Schumer

CNBC personality Larry Kudlow is considering challenging Democratic New York Sen. Chuck Schumer for his seat in the Senate in 2016.

On Tuesday, one of Kudlow’s followers on Twitter sent him a message, imploring him to run against Schumer, who is set to succeed Nevada Sen. Harry Reid, Nev., as the leader of his party in the Senate in 2016.

“Thinking… Thanks,” Kudlow replied.

Kudlow flirted with a run in 2010, with support from some conservative tea party groups who at the time wanted him to challenge Schumer. Kudlow ultimately declined to run.

Citing an anonymous source, National Review on Wednesday reported that Kudlow, 67, has recently met with the National Republican Senatorial Committee about a potential bid for the Senate. “It’s standard policy that we don’t discuss recruitment in the press,” a spokesperson for the NRSC told National Review.
