Hockey always seemed more like a beer sport to us, but that didn’t prevent Duckhorn Vineyards from selling a very special wine to celebrate a very special hockey game.
The Napa Valley winery has produced 500 cases of its Napa Valley Decoy Merlot in honor of 2011 Winter Classic, a sporting event played on New Year’s Day between the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins. This is the fourth year for the classic, and the game will be played outside at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field.
The Merlot is decorated with the Classic’s logo and the teams’ logos as well. The wine can be ordered online at calvertwoodley.com.
