Just in time for Earth Day, we’ve learned that John McCain’s presidential campaign bus will be driving on a different kind of fume.
When environmental filmmaker Alexandra Cousteau takes over the Straight Talk Express for her four-month trek through the rivers and lakes of North America, the song of “Drill, Baby, Drill” will be transformed into the three R’s — as in reuse, renew, recycle.
The McCain logo has been stripped and painted over purple. Cousteau, granddaughter of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, has equipped the already media-friendly bus with production equipment for her crew of 15.
“There’s very little we need to do to it,” Cousteau said in an interview with the Daily Beast’s Lloyd Grove. “… The bus has a history now. We’re going to take it in a ‘blue’ direction.”
