Feeling confident after his performance in the fourth Republican debate, Donald Trump told Granite State voters Wednesday “maybe” the U.S. can amend its election laws to hand him the GOP nomination.
“The relationship we’ve had with the people of New Hampshire is amazing,” Trump said during an early morning “Politics & Eggs” event hosted by the New England Council.
“I wish we could call — can we call the election for tomorrow?” he added.

The Republican hopeful, who’s third in the Washington Examiner’s post-debate presidential power rankings, continued, “You know in some countries, the prime minister, if he’s popular at the time, he says, ‘We are calling for our election on Tuesday.”
“I love that,” Trump said. “Maybe we can change the laws so we can do that.”
While modifying decades-old election laws is a stretch, Trump says the narrowing GOP field gives him enough hope he’ll secure the GOP nod anyway.
“We started off with seventeen [candidates], and one-by-one they’re disappearing,” he said. “It’s a beautiful thing to watch as they go out. I love it.”
Trump was expected to deliver a stump speech at the event Wednesday in Manchester, N.H. Instead, he skipped his normal remarks to field questions from the audience for nearly one hour.
