Roger Stone: CNN ‘cowards’ won’t interview me

Republican political consultant Roger Stone, who is also a longtime associate of President Trump, says CNN canceled a recent interview with him and is now afraid to have him on. But CNN says nothing has changed since it banned him in early 2016.

During an interview with the Washington Examiner, Stone said he was supposed to be interviewed Tuesday by CNN anchor Jake Tapper to promote his new book “The Making of the President 2016: How Donald Trump Orchestrated a Revolution.”

He said, however, that it was canceled because the network is afraid to have him on.

“So, CNN has no ethics and they continue to pump fake news,” Stone said, referring to Trump’s frequent attacks on the network. “I was supposed to interview with Jake Tapper [Tuesday]. Needless to say, that is now canceled — cowards; they’re cowards.”

It was a claim Stone also made on social media.

“CNN canceled my interview with Jake Tapper tomorrow- further proof CNN is not a news organization but shameless purveyors of fake news,” Stone said Monday on Twitter.

Tapper noticed the remark and replied to Stone, “Respectfully, no one on my staff has any idea what you’re talking about. With whom were you speaking?” Stone did not respond directly to Tapper on Twitter.

A spokesperson for CNN referred the Examiner to a statement on Stone from early 2016 that said he was no longer invited to appear on its programming.

“And nothing has changed,” the spokesperson said.

Stone, who was also banned from MSNBC in April, is known for making inflammatory comments on politics and media.

Last year, he said CNN’s Ana Navarro reminded him of a “rabid pekinese,” is “dumber than dog s—t,” and he referred to former CNN political analyst Roland Martin, who is black, as a “quota hire.”
