Kitty Kelley’s latest book party for her fearless Oprah biography made for an interesting party scene Thursday.
At the Northwest home of Nathan and Jill Daschle (son and daughter-in-law of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, who was spotted at the party), the line wrapped down the stairs to the basement with guests eager to get a book signed by Kelley.
Downstairs, guests found the woman brave enough to take a jab at the media mogul plopped on a twin bed filled with pillows, gleefully signing books for fans and snapping pictures on the bed.
Before the party, we heard many friends and some members of the media were inquiring whether the Daschles had an issue with Oprah. One guest even brought Jill a copy of O, the Oprah Magazine, as a gag gift and plopped it down on the ledge of her stone fireplace. But Daschle says there’s no issue with Oprah.
“I love Oprah,” Daschle said. “I watch her show all the time. … She’s fabulous.”
She even confessed to turning on the show in the background at her office, but said she is a friend of Kelley and respects her work. Phew.
Also spotted at the party: BET founder Sheila Johnson.
