Hillary Clinton’s campaign replied to the Republican debate Thursday night by issuing a series of tweets intended to rally female voters.
“Look real hard — you still won’t find anyone supporting equal pay, paid leave, or reproductive rights,” Clinton’s team tweeted from her campaign account.

Clinton didn’t sign the updates, so she might not have been watching the debate herself. So she might not have seen Rand Paul, around the same time that her team was issuing those messages, try to undermine her appeal among women by talking about Bill Clinton’s past transgressions.

Paul took aim at the former president after Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked if he was unfairly blaming Hillary Clinton for her husband’s infidelities. “I don’t blame Hillary Clinton at all for this; I don’t think she’s responsible for his behavior,” he said. “If what Bill Clinton did, any CEO in our country did with an intern … they would be fired. They would never be hired again. Fired, never hired again, and probably shunned in their community. And the thing is she can’t be a champion of women’s rights at the same that she’s got this that is always lurking out there, this type of behavior.”
He used the Clinton Foundation to make a more direct accusation that Hillary Clinton is a hypocrite when it comes to women’s rights. “I combine this also with the millions upon millions of dollars they’ve taken from regimes in the Middle East who treat women like cattle,” Paul said.
Clinton’s tweets stayed on message. “We can’t let Republicans take us back to policies that failed us in the past,” her campaign tweeted.
