The Democratic National Committee is poised to transfer a significant amount of campaign money to the party’s House and Senate campaign committees in the run-up to Election Day.
While a final amount hasn’t been agreed upon, the sum could be as much as $3 million each for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, according to the Washington Post.
Senior DNC officers, who weren’t authorized to speak publicly about the plans, told the paper the transfers are expected to be finalized in the coming days.
With the midterm elections less than a month away, the cash comes at a critical time for Democratic House and Senate candidates locked in tight races. The money comes on top of at least $1 million the DSCC is expected to spend in South Dakota, where Republican Senate candidate Mike Rounds — the race’s frontrunner who has slipped significantly according to recent polls — is seen as vulnerable.
