Congressmen flex thanks to P90X

The Senate may have the power to ratify treaties and confirm Cabinet appointees, but it seems the House has the real muscle. According to The Wall Street Journal, a group of House Republicans created a P90X club, where they follow the intense workout DVD several times a week. There are about one dozen devotees, including House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan, and Jeff Flake.

Ryan told WSJ he started the program 2 years ago, and it grew from there. They even took the show on the road during campaign season, doing the travel version before starting the day. McCarthy said he lost 28 pounds in three months

from the new routine.

While the group is Republican-heavy, Democrat Heath Shuler regularly meets with the group. We guess the gym is the new smoking room.
