AFL-CIO’s Trumka calls Trump ‘wrong, wrong, wrong,’ praises Clinton

PHILADELPHIA – AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka blasted GOP nominee Donald Trump Monday, and rallied to presumptive Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s side in a “barnburner” of a speech at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

“Working people are strong, and Donald Trump is wrong, wrong, wrong,” he said.

Trumka continued, and implored American workers and their unions, which tend to favor Democratic presidential candidates, to work together to keep Trump from winning the White House.

“[Trump] thinks he’s a tough guy. Well Donald, I worked in the mines with tough guys. I know tough guys, they’re friends of mine. And Donald, You’re no tough guy, you’re a phony!” he shouted to loud applause.

Trumka wasn’t all anti-Trump, though, as he also made the case for Clinton, praising her for opposing the supposedly “job-killing” Trans-Pacific Partnership deal.

He also hailed the former secretary of state for supporting “equal pay for equal work.”

“Let’s change the rules. Let’s take back Congress,” he shouted. “And let’s elect Hillary Clinton the next president of the United States.”
