Don Draper obsessives looking for dirt on his real-life alter ego Jon Hamm won’t get any from long-time girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt. The actress, writer, and star of new film “Friends With Kids” was in town last week to promote the movie, and she had only nice things to say about working with Ham, who produced and acted in the movie.

“It was great,” Westfeldt said of working with her partner of 14 years. “I felt like this whole shoot was so collaborative … it wasn’t as if there was any real authority situation.”

The movie, about two childless friends who decide to have a kid but keep their relationship platonic, gets a lot of laughs about the pitfalls of dating, like finding out that your blind date is a white-collar criminal. But Westfeldt says that that doesn’t reflect her own experiences.

“I’m a serial monogamist,” she explained. “I’ve always been in long relationships.” The dating disasters were inspired by her friends’ stories. “I have so many girlfriends who have just been through the ringer on the dating scene,” she said. “So I’m fascinated by it.”

Westfeldt did dish about film stars Adam Scott and Kristen Wiig and their uncharacteristically dramatic performances. “Everyone know what a genius comedian she is,” Westfeldt said of Wiig. “I don’t think a lot of people have seen her play a quieter, more dramatic, more poignant role.” Scott also drew skepticism from some about his ability to anchor a dramedy. “Certain people who only knew his comedic work would say, does he have dramatic chops?” says Westfeldt.

Westfeldt herself was surprised to find that costar Megan Fox had little in common with her public persona. “I wasn’t sure what to expect,” she says. “She is nothing like what people think. She’s funny and smart and sharp as a tack and sweet.” As to why Fox, who met Westfeldt while wearing jeans and a baseball cap, gets a less-than-sweet reputation, Westfeldt says: “It’s not fair. It’s because she’s stunning, that’s why.”
