Though national radio host Michael Savage is in the process of an evolution from conservative flamethrower to “life coach,” his show will remain at Cumulus stations. Savage has signed a “long-term” deal with Cumulus, according to a press release.
“I’m not shying away from politics and I’m not running for office like others in the media,” Savage said in an apparent response to radio industry insiders and media observers who believe he is pivoting from politics to lifestyle issues as a resulting of declining audiences for conservative talk radio. “Cumulus has allowed me to expand my reach, but my goal has remained the same — to deliver the best, most comprehensive commentary on radio and ‘edutain’ the world in the process.”
Savage also announced a college scholarship valued at $100,000. It will grant five students $10,000 each for two years. Winners will be selected after submitting essays centered on the question, “What does it mean to be an American?” The release specifies the scholarship is for conservative students. The contest opens Thursday.
