Obama: The World Tour

Into the growing industry of Barack Obama related business ventures, add one more: travel companies.

Kayak.com is out with a Barack Obama-related travel itinerary, encouraging individuals to book trips on its site to various spots related to Obama’s life.

“Keep that election euphoria alive by delving deeper into the origins of the newly elected president,” writes the site.

Good grief.

That means: Washington (“The number one destination for Obama’s biggest fans”), Chicago (“Visit the very place Obama first learned of his seismic presidential victory, and the city that saw him cut his teeth when he began campaigning for a seat on the Illinois State Senate”), Hawaii (“Birthplace of the hero himself”) and Boston (“a city which reflects Obama’s youth more than any other”).

The Web site even admits that this whole concept is a pretty big stretch: In its recommendation for Kenya, Kayak.com writes, “OK, so Kenya’s not in the U.S. but it certainly earns a place on this list as it has special meaning for Obama – it’s his father’s homeland.”
