It’s Jack Abramoff’s second day on the job, and according to owner and manager, Ron Rosenbluth, the former lobbyist and convicted felon is “doing fine” at TOV Pizza.
The Baltimore kosher pizzeria has hired from halfway houses before, Rosenbluth said. That’s where they picked up Casino Jack.
Abramoff has been serving time in western Maryland since 2006 after he pleaded guilty to felony charges of defrauding the American Indian gaming industry and corrupting public officials. He now resides in a halfway house in Baltimore, and has started his life anew — ironically flipping dough.
The establishment has existed for 26 years and has its own jingle: “The Kosher Best is TOV Oohhh Aahhh,” it goes. Abramoff is no stranger to the restaurant industry — he once owned the Washington restaurant Signatures and the kosher Stacks Deli.
“We’re all Jews, we’re all on the same team,” Rosenbluth told the Baltimore Jewish Times. “I’m more than happy to help a fellow Jew in any way I can.”
Rosenbluth told Yeas & Nays he couldn’t go into more detail about Abramoff’s employment because he needed to make pizzas.
Abramoff has been a hot character in the media, with two films recounting his wheelings and dealings: the documentary “Casino Jack and the United States of Money” and a fictional account starring Kevin Spacey, “Bagman,” which started as “Casino Jack.”
